To help community health centers. According to the director of Laurel health systems Ferlin Patrick, these grants are going tobe used over the next two years. they have to devise ways to use the money, says Patrick, in such a manner that will be sustainable after the money is gone.

Good point: once you have a grant does not mean you will get it every year. Apparently this grant was made to this and other health care centers across the country in areas where job loss ( and loss of disability/insurance coverage) is substantial.

Thinking of this from a business perspective, Laurel Health Center will be hiring two more physicians. It will be creating and maintaining new protocols for un/underinsured people. These new programs will continue to function even after the grant money is spent. And that’s not all. There’s more the funds are doing. Read the article for details.

This business just grew. Though this looks like a social service grant, it actually serves to grow the business, and to create new jobs.
